The article in Haaretz does tell a rather different story doesn't it?

"One of the toughest clashes between the state and Israel's ultra-Orthodox community came to a head on Thursday when dozens of parents who refused to comply with a High Court of Justice ruling arrived at Jerusalem's police headquarters to serve a two week prison sentence. . . The ultra-Orthodox Ashkenazi Hasidic parents had removed their daughters from the school, despite the court's decision barring them from doing so, and refused to comply with the ruling."
So Israeli courts refused to contenence discrimination and indeed convicted and sentenced the parents - meanwhile in other states in the region. . . .

Such a strong ethos of equality in that country, don't you think?

This has to be the funniest post yet. The guy whose frinds would like to send the world back to stone age is laughing at a decision of the High Court in Israel to prevent segregation in its schools.

Contrast that with the very enlightened actions in Gaza:

Masked gunmen attacked a U.N.-run summer camp for children on Sunday after militants in the Gaza Strip accused the United Nations of promoting immorality in the religiously conservative enclave controlled by Hamas Islamists.

Apparently that dangerous, subversive camp was going to teach schoolgirls fitness, dancing and immorality. OMG

Gryfin has got to be the funniest most pathetic clown on this board.

Oh, I wouldn't crow too much. Thousands upon thousands of Israeli schoolchildren don't even learn basic core subjects. They are basically coming out of school as village idiots.

"According to Ben-David, "The grades of Arab-Israeli students were lower by 14% than the Israeli average. Haredi students didn't even participate in the exam. No other country omitted such a large part of its population from the international exams, while no state-wide curriculum is enforced in the haredi sector."

"The law causes human and national damage,” said Reichmann. The human damage was represented by the four petitioners who had left the haredi community.

“They did not know a word of English,” he told the Post. “In fact, some of them did not know there was an English language. Some did not know how to multiply.”

If you want to make this argument, seemingly you would be better off making it in on the Continent rather than in North America: Religious exemptions to schooling, the right to privately school children, home schooling of children. . .

Education for the Ultra Orthodox may not be what you or I would wish it to be. But are you making this same argument about Madrasas?

Israel is the nation that proclaims to be fair and democratic. The article shows that it is not nearly as enlightened as they want us to believe.

You're comparing a group of militants with 100k Israeli citizens who believe discrimination is ok?

Not at all. it shows that in a democratic country the courts will step in to prevent segregation and that those who disobey the law will be jailed even if they have a lot of supporters. Israel like many countries has a lot of religious idiots. Nowhere near the number as even the most liberal Muslim countries but many for sure.

Unfortunately, half-wit, the segregation has been occuring for an entire year. Did you read that..an entire year. Was everyone asleep in Israel?

And the Court put an end to it. What did hamas do when to gunmen destroyed the camp in Gaza. Oh I forgot they agreed with it. You are so desperate to find any way to knock Israel that you keep coming up with examples that are breathtaking in their stupidity. Read the article. it really says that Israel is a country of laws. Unlike any other country in the mid east.

Oh I forgot about that paragon of jurisprudence in the middle east Hamas.

The bullet-riddled bodies of the men, convicted by military tribunals in 2008 and 2009, were dumped by armed men at Gaza City's main hospital before dawn on Thursday, a hospital employee said.

A brother of one of the men said both families were summoned to the prison late Wednesday for a visit but were not told of the pending executions.

And the Court put an end to it.
It hasn't ended at all.

And you don't really want to talk about jurisprudence in Israel. Do you want to tell us how many Palestinian children are in Israeli jails? Do you want to talk about the Palestinian who was executed on the street in front of everybody this week by Israeli police?
