Quitting porn / nofap movement

Surprised that there aren't many discussions here about this, just wanted to share my experience with the whole nofap (masturbation) / no porn. I personally was never a porn addict, but probably watched daily or every few days or so. My friend introduced me to the nofap movement, told me that he quit porn and how it helped him perform much better. I obviously thought it was ridiculous, just like how everyone else seems to think it's ridiculous when I tell them about this. Most people embark on this journey to increase their sexual performance, eliminate ED (erectile dysfunction), increased confidence and a whole bunch of other benefits nofap seemingly offers. I know of many people who watch porn regularly and have no problems in bed, so if that's the case this is probably not useful for you.

I didn't really have ED, but I did suffer from Condom induced ED, which apparently a lot of men suffer from (when the man loses erection upon wearing a condom). Upon wearing a condom I used to lose my erection, every single time. Also when I'm unstimulated for a short period, even when I'm with a beautiful naked chick, I'd go soft once in a while. This was extremely annoying. Usually with SPs it was okay as long as I relaxed and played with them, I was usually good to go. When I'm with civilian girls, they tend to freak out and think it's because they are not attractive (I was told even SPs think this). They all tell you that this is all in your head, you're just nervous...

I thought about it and I realized I wasn't nervous, I've been with many girls... In fact, I was so not nervous that I felt like I was not as excited anymore to be with a naked lady. The sight of a naked lady should be a pleasant experience. But after watching so much porn, you get desensitized to real naked bodies, especially when you watch different girls with perfect bodies every single day.

So I tried it. No porn, no masturbation for however long I could do it for. They say you should aim for 90 days to reset your brain from the stimulation, but you can still have sex (some people abstain from orgasm) as long it's a real experience, nothing virtual. It's been 15 days since no porn, I noticed around 1 week in I was having erections very often, especially when I woke up. My libido skyrocketed! To test the waters I saw a few SPs, 7 days in and today (15 days). I was hard 100% of the the hour in both sessions, instantly from the second I saw her body. Condom did not phase me one bit, slipped it on like it was nothing and went straight to action. I used to be so scared to take off the dom, because putting it back on the second time was a huge risk to go soft. Now I have awesome BJs in between sex, slip on another dom like it's nothing! Also for some reasons I last a lot longer, I think if you constantly go soft/hard, you don't last as long.

I think it's mostly the porn, since I did masturbate once, also it's healthy to released once in a while to keep your prostate healthy. For some people it took months before they noticed any benefits, probably because they were so heavily addicted to porn. Like I said I was never an addict and it was quite easy for me to quit porn, I did not yet have any desire to watch porn again. Today I have proved to myself that this is definitely worth doing and I can happily delete my porn stash that I have worked so hard to accumulate over the years :)

Very good post. I agree when I masturbate I can't get hard while wearing a condom.

When I abstained from porn or masturbation, it takes me about two weeks and I cum easily with a blow Jin which I usually can if I masturbate.
This verifies it and I'm going to abstain again. Thanks man.

No worries brother, ya it's definitely the porn causing that issue. Try it out let me know how it goes!

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

It should be said, however, that TED and TEDx are different, with the latter being independently organized on smaller scales and can be performed by total quacks. I'm not claiming that the linked video offers nothing of value, but there have been some really questionable TEDx talks in the past.

I do have a personal anecdote that could be relevant. When I had trouble getting and staying hard with an SP due to performance anxiety (likely rooted in shyness, anxiety, and inexperience, not ED), the strategy that ultimately worked was... to turn it into porn. I viewed what was happening in a mirror from a third-person perspective instead of watching the SP directly, essentially detaching myself from the whole situation. It was as though I had spent so much time seeing other people doing it, that when it was finally me, my brain didn't know how to process it properly. I'm a younger guy with no problems with blood flow when I'm by myself, and I get more than enough erections while asleep and throughout the day, so I assume it wasn't a physiological ED issue. I guess it's possible that the opposite was true, in that this was going to happen either way due to the other factors and hefty experience with porn saved the day, but I doubt it.

Getting hard with the condom on was also a challenge. I didn't find it uncomfortable, but I had never worn one before. Do you think practicing (pornless) masturbation with a condom on would help? I don't own any condoms, but in addition to cutting back on porn, I'm thinking about buying some condoms to try this out.

In any case, reducing porn usage is something I intend to do whether there's hard evidence to support doing so or not. I don't think I'd survive the nofap thing yet, though.

My issue with the "No Fap" movement is the way they act like not masturbating somehow gives you super powers.

I think nofap is bullshit and I want no part in it. He'll compared to when I was younger I don't watch that much porn.

But there is something about nofap that gives me the willies and I can't put my finger on what it is exactly.
Well with nofap you shouldn't put any fingers on your willy so maybe that's it. :bolt:

Rubbing ones dick for hours everyday while watching porn undoubtedly lessens the sensation from a lady... However, fapping is a significant part of my savings plan. If I gave up that "hobby", I'd go broke pursuing the other one. Perhaps moderation is the key in both...

Practicing masturbation is definitely something I recommend for guys just starting to get sexually active. Knowing your limits and having ability to control is extremely important when it comes to sex. I have tried practicing with condoms with a fleshlight before, and I noticed I would stay hard when I was alone (with porn), but would go soft when with a girl when wearing a condom. I always thought this was performance anxiety / some psychological fear when it's condom + real girl, but ultimately I found out that it was just the porn + desensitization. I thought that if I can stay hard by my self while wearing a condom, but not when with a girl, it would mean that it's due to anxiety. But I realize now that I only stayed hard because of the stimulation of porn. To test this theory, all you have to do is try masturbating with a condom without porn, and if you can stay hard for a while it may just mean you have performance anxiety and not necessarily porn induced ED

Haha I'm also afraid that this would lead to more hobbying, but their theory is that because you can only get off with a real girl, you are much more likely to pursue a real girl, hence more dates / lays, not necessarily spending more money on escorts. I'm just happy to have my erection back when I'm with these beautiful girls
