Was talking today with a freind, subject came up about how to dispose of old ammo, someone in the family had passed away and when going thru the belongings, came across old ammo.
How does one go about getting rid of it??

Drive to any one of the areas in the city run by the groups we can't talk about. Leave the package on the seat, windows open and go get a coffee.
It will be gone when you get back.

Seriously I would be reluctant to go to the police with it. They may wonder about guns if there is ammo. Maybe they weren't registered. If you are a normal taxpaying middle class citizen they don't want you to have guns and may become a pain. Call a legal gun club from a pay phone and ask them.

lake Ontario.

Like other terb advice threads I'm offering help when I don't know anything about what you asked and I've never done this.

Other side of the islands it's 300' deep.

Ammo disposal is always a problem and should be done by the pros.

Two options come to mind. Call a local Gun Store and ask who and how.

Or the one that will work the best is the police.

Just bring the bullets to a cop station. Just make sure the bullets are in a gun and start waving the gun around when you get to the cop station cause the service there is always slow.

Forget the cops they might charge you for possesion of weapons of mass attraction of some sort. They are breed of their on stupidity and they will turn your life upside down and around. You will be miserable for the rest of your life.
Dumped it on the lake. IF you try to sell it you have to have a gun licenses.
Although it may not be environmentally safe to dump in the lake at least you avoid assholes.

Cops will never believe you and don't bother walking into a station and asking about a theory either their believe is they SHOULD be the only ones with guns and their mothers.

Call your local police station and ask them what to do with it. They may come and pick it up or they may ask you to bring it in.

LOL I will only say this: your intelligence is proven by your grammar....

and here ladies and gentlemen, we have another example of yet another person paranoid of our police force....

Dumping it in the lake, so you think it is a great idea to put MORE pollutants there? That's the dumpest suggestion I've heard on TERB...

BTW, the lake IS 300' deep south of the island, but you have to go out about 1/2 - 3/4 mile....

Call up the police on their non-emergency line. If they inquire about firearms tell them you only found the ammunition, not weapons....

this thread is just too much fun to leave alone...:)

WAYS TO DISPOSE OF AMMUNITION

1. Call me...I know a couple of people I'd like to see hold it for you...if you know what I mean.

2. Run around the front yard screaming Allah!!! firing the ammo into the air.

3. Host a "Deer Hunter" theme party.

4. Send it to our troops in Afghanistan with instructions to forward to Taliban as fast as possible.

5. Send ammo to Dick Cheney...and a hunting invite to George Bush.

Seem to remember hearing about an ammunition disposal depot in the city. The cops might know where it is.

If there is a lot of ammunition and it is not too old, it might have some value.

We could start a Guns for Ghettos program. The problems would become self limiting.

1-To render it useless give it a good soaking in WD-40 then deep six it.

or

2-Find someone that shoot's and give it to them.
