Question: Favourite Pick-up Bar??

This may be a bit of a dumb question. I'm in my 30s - does anyone have any recommendations for a good pick-up bar for someone my age in Toronto (or east GTA)?

I don't mean the kind of bar where cute girls go to be with their friends. I mean the kind of bar where women go for the sole purpose to pick up guys.

While were at it, anyone know the solution to world peace? Nevermind, answer my question first please...

Example - not a pick up bar

An example of what I'm not thinking of is Madison's near Bloor. Nice place, but it is a place where 20-somethings go to meet their preppy friends.

The Lizard Longe on Fetish night might be the other extreme, and I don't have the proper wardrobe for that anyway.

Google only seems to return gay bars when you search for this. Seems unfair.

Somewhere where it is generally known that heterosexual people go to be picked-up....?

I remember back in the 80s there used to be a bar with telephones on each table. It was somewhere Yonge Eg. You would call girls at other tables and chat and ask them to dance. Very cheesy, but I hooked up with a cute Lebanese girl there. Ahh those were the days.

All kidding aside, I'd help if I could but I've been married pretty much since arriving in Toronto. But your speaking to an audience that sincerly believes "paying for it" mkes more sense then simply taking your chances and trying to meet someone...

Thanks Holden. This is the sort of intel I am looking for. Young and dumb... ...not sounding like too bad an option right about now. I can pass for young with the right attire.

There is another thread running on cougars, but just what age range are we talking about for cougars??? 35-45? 45-55? retirement home? Are we talking old and hideous? Or sort of mature but still hot (I'm thinking Mag Ruffman as an older kind of hot chick).

That place must have been before my time, but remember Earl's Tin Palace (AKA Earls "Skin Palace") at Yonge & Eg? Picking up and taking home didn't get much easier then there and also right next door at Pete & Marty's, sometimes Berlin's. Those were good days.

Good choices. The Keg at York & Adelaide is good for picking up, but only on Thursday's. Brant House is also good on Thursdays. Crocodile Rock is good for cougars on Wednesdays. Friday after work Shmooze is great. The Drake, Devils Martini, My Apartment and Ultra are also good on the weekends. If you want cougars, Chick n Deli is still pretty good, but the last time I was there the ladies werent much to look at.

It was called Xanadu and it was just south of Egg on Mount Pleasant. A and A plays at On The Curve, and at the Brix in Richmondhill, amoung other places.

I'm in my eighties now; but back in the 50's I had a great deal of luck at The Silver Dollar located at Spadina and College. I haven't been there for several weeks, so their location may have changed.

Fortunately, that's never happened to me. Must have been the $2 drink specials on Friday. I've only been on Friday's after work which is supposed to be the only good time to go, but the lineup starts at 4 PM. You can call early though and get on the guest list. It's a good looking corporate crowd, but the ladies do get loaded and picking up is easy.
