I'm thinking to buy Bold without a contract, and unlock it to use with my current Fido service. My questions are:

1. Will the bold branded with Rogers eventhough im not going with their plan?
2. Will I have problems on updating the Bold software if there is any updates?
3. Will I forfeited Bold's manufacture warrranty if i unlock it?
4. If I decided to go with Rogers in the future with the unlock phone, will I have a problem?

Any thoughts on this guys?

1. A Rogers Bold should work with Fido. They are pretty much the same company now. I have used a locked Fido phone with a Rogers SIM card with no problems.
2. No problems. The software update is independant of carrier.
3. Most likely.
4. No. Unlocked phones are unlocked for a reason, so that they can be used with any GSM carrier.

thanks destillat.

Anyone know about Rogers $30/6gig data plan? Do you have to get the voice plan as well or can you just get the data plan? Any catch?

You can probably get just the data plan. The catch is that you will not be able to connect to a corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server. You will only be able to use it to surf the internet and check personal email accounts (Hotmail, Gmail, etc...)

Connecting to a Blackberry Enterprise Server lets you connect your Blackberrys email, calenadar, address book, etc... to your corporate mailbox.

BIS = Blackberry Internet Service... let's you connect non-corporate email accounts (up to 10 I think) to your Blackberry.
