I would have though that Hollywood would leave well enough alone.

Quentin Tarantino stays true to form in indulging his childhood passions, he's making a Star Trek film. CBS All Access got a huge bump in subscriptions from ST-Discovery, Hollywood has deduced that there's still gold to be mined from the series. After The Hateful 8, Tarantino has gone as far as he can with the Sergio Leone angle. Having grown up with Star Trek, he may actually make a decent film - the reboots weren't very good. They wasted Idris Elba's talents in the last one. Mark L Smith who wrote The Revenant will write the script.

I find Tarantino's film exhilarating to watch but I do not love them.

His last three films are glorified snuff movies. He takes important subjects and trivializes them, Django Unchained (slavery), The Hateful 8 (violence against women). Of the three Inglorious Basterds comes of the best - who doesn't want to see Nazis get slaughtered. But I have a sneaking suspicion that he made it to please his boss Harvey Weinstein. After watching the last two, I felt dirty coming out of the theater.

It was a downright atrocity that the Best Supporting Actress Oscar went to Alicia Vikander for The Danish Girl, pc at its worst, instead of Jennifer Jason Leigh for The Hateful 8. I can't even remember AV's role but I'll never forget Jennifer Jason Leigh.

There are several reasons why George Clooney is a flaming hypocritical asshole, this is a good place to start.

Ever since 1996 this is how I insist on having my liquor served at any tavern, bar or drinking establishment....

Remember from "Dusk to dawn" ?

...nothing else will do. Gratuities be damned!

Tarantino's movies are a little weird - there's the little bit of comicalness to most of them. You either like them or hate them. So if he's doing a Star Trek, who knows? As long as it's not a reboot and it isn't. He's also working with Abrams so it should be decent. The 3rd one was weak (I liked the 1st and 2nd).

I’m really excited about this.

Not really a Trek guy. Probably inadvertently saw most of DS9 and TNG, and maybe half of the original movies without getting too into it. I did watch Discovery and liked that. The reboot movies were ok, entertaining enough for someone with a passing nterest in it.

I LOVE Tarantino.

If he really does it his way, it’ll be amazing.

I know less about Mark L Smith. Never saw Séance. The Revenant was outstanding, but that was based on a great book and Smith only co-wrote the screenplay with Alejandro G. Iñárritu, who also directed it.

Hopefully he casts the usual suspects, Samuel Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Steven Roth etc....

I can't wait....

Kirk: What do they call a Big Mac in Vulcan?

Spock: A big mac, that's the logical answer.....

Not looking forward to the scene where the Klingons treat Kirk like a gimp.

Tarantino grew up with Star Trek and spaghetti westerns. It's in his blood so he could redeem the franchise on film.

I watched Nemesis for the first time recently, it's actually better that Insurrection. What if Tarantino could get Tom Hardy to actually play Captain Picard? He was 23 when he made Nemesis, playing Shinzon - a clone from Picard's DNA. Tarantino and Hardy - my head would explode like in Scanners. Of course wearing a mold of Patrick Stewart's nose didn't do him any favours.
