yeah makes ya wonder, and another thing is Mike Illich the owner of the Tigers along with the Red Wings, who has dumped a ton of money into the hockey team and has had alot of succcess but hasnt done the same with the baseball team, and apparently from alot of experts their farm system doesnt really have any major prospects so this ride of 100 loss seasons seems like it will continue for awhile.

Actually it's not surprising if you know a little about Pudge. He is the president of the "Kiss Army" and spends the majority of his time in Detroit, home of the Kiss Army headquarters.

I guarantee you that if you go to a Tigers game this year, you should see one or more members of Kiss sitting behind the dugout.

In a pre-season game Pudge once wore "Gene Simmons" makeup behind the plate.

Another thing to look for, whenever Pudge steps into the batters box he does the official Kiss Army salute (a reverse cross on his chest).

When Pudge played for the Rangers him and Juan Gonzalez got into a huge fight because Gonzalez didn't want to listen to Kiss music in the club-house. Needless to say, Pudge won that dispute and Gonzalez was shipped off to Cleveland or some other place.

Pudge isn't the solution in Detroit. This was a *terrible* signing, from a strictly baseball point of view. Teams that lose that many games shouldn't be spending like madmen on free agents - they should be rebuilding. Rodriguez alone is only worth maybe a half-dozen wins at most. He's not going to help draw more fans, either. I'm not sure just what the reason was, but it's not justifiable.

4 years, $40 million dollars to a 32-year old catcher who, according to Ilitch, is going to become the cornerstone of the franchise, like Steve Yzerman. ......... I think Mike's losing his mind. :(
