've had friends introduce me to cops to go on dates and a few paramedics she new
civilian dates i don't mean sex worker dates
i met 4 le and its very not surprising that the 4 LE and 1 Paramedic had one thing in common
They all had PTSD ...i was taught that only soldiers get it
but they educated me in it saying anything traumatizing can really fuck up someone
with nightmares triggering things that remind them of the dead bodies shot or barely alive
of car accidents, and overdoses , gun wounds
or people stabbed etc.. you get the picture
lthey never know if someones gonna try a murder suicide against the le or shoot at them

I was also told that the stigma for mental health officers or paramedics
Gets other making fun of certain guys -so they feel theres not enough
support in the force and the paramedic couldn't believe the things he saw so he got a different job
Growing up i used to think le were like men made of steel
and that nothing would get in there way but unfortunately lots get flash backs
I just hope the Le realize that there getting more training how to deal with mental illness they go see and ironically
That the force needs to stop the stigma even in the force and help those mental illness and treat them better
I was reading there were over 11 suicides in one year i believe it was northern le

People aren't superman not getting what others have
I hope the force pays for there recovery and healing
before they break down
when your in high risk jobs its easy to get
Even a lot of sps have been known to get it from bad experiences

the stigma of it just needs to go away
were all human and it doesn't mean this guys are gonna snap
they just need therapy and i hope the force pays for it for them

Great post. I have three friends involved in front line emergency services and they admit (to me at least) that they are all ptsd. They don't sleep well, they drink way too much, they all take meds for anxiety.

my ex neighbor was a paramedic for 30+ years and he told me that the only way to survive that type of job was to tell yourself everyday that what happens during your shift is no way your fault and that your only priority is to do everything in your control to try to help or save the person in need. You will see stuff that no1 else will ever see in their careers but the patient is in the situation because of their or someone else's behavior. It takes a very special person to do that type of work and not to be affected by it.
