Depends on the game style that you like to play,per-say, Nintedo and Playstation offer some games that are the same-but many games that are very very different in the genera.

save your coin, wait 6months for the price to drop.
...that shit's gonna be so expensive for the first few weeks.
You're paying extra coin for hype.
Do you REALLY NEED it or do you WANT IT?
Big difference.

A quick comparrison.... for me I'm into the PS3 for the blu ray player plus being compatible with the 40 or 50 PS2 games that I have plus the odd ps1 game that I have kicking around. For some reason I just find Sony's games more interesting than xbox and nintendo these days.

It would be nice if the player could play all the high end media and upsample images for high def TVs.

However I wish the companies would share their tech rather than waging the HD DVD/Blu ray War.

Sony and share don't mix well.
See beta, see mini-disc (apple killed them with flash based mp3 players).
Then and only then did Sony care to share their mini-discs...lol

Another Plane Of Existence
I've had all three previous gen consoles, preferred the XBox for graphics/sounds, PS2 for game selection, and Cube for fun. In the long run, XBox was just another computer so I didn't need it anymore, PS2 just sucked, but kept the Cube cuz I still have fun (nothing beats Mario Kart).

As for the new gen consoles, skipping 360 and PS3, like I said before, they're just computers, very expensive computers. And honestly speaking, why would I want to watch/play HD stuff, DVDs, music, etc. when I have all the dedicated equipment anyway!?!

All I wanna do is play video games, and that's exactly what the Nintendo Wii is gonna do, and interactively too! See the controller and gameplay? And the option to download classic games like Donkey Kong and Bubble Bobble! The only thing the Wii is gonna screwup on is HD, which it doesn't have.

That vid's been out there a while... funny... but as you can tell, we're geeks and serious when it comes to the video game war.

They coulda found a hotter Wii girl, but she's aiight.

I'm not a gamer so take my comment with a sack's worth grain of salt.

I've preordered PS3, then a couple weekends ago I was invited to witness a production sample of PS3 (for Bluray demo). Now bear in mind I've bought a Samsung BD player (and returned it coz it's bad). From the demo (playing Ultraviolet and Dinosaur) the PQ is no better than the Samsung, and AQ is far worse than the Samsung.

I have now cancelled my PS3 pre-order.

I'll get the PS3, but like alot of people i will wait til the price to drop. Never been a Nintendo fan because there games are geared towards younger kids,, the lack of mature games i think will eventually bite them in the ass one day.

I hear from vid game store employees that the ps3 will be about $670 given that it is also a blu ray dvd player and has a 60 gig HD I think it sounds pretty good. Will I run out and buy one right away? Probably not. But when the time comes it will be the next gaming console that I buy. In the meantime there are still ps2 games that I want to snatch up so I will be more than busy with other games.

Looking back on the PS1 I paid $450 for it back in the day. I think it was initially about $600 or $700 when it first came out.
