Provider Website Suggestions

FIREFOX BROWSER ISSUES- GOOD PICTURE GALLERIES

Ideas for Providers doing websites and issues to discuss with their webmaster.

I wrote these comments on an International Providers group and thought I'd share here:
In answer to > how to tell if a web designer is good

Suggestions of a good web designer.

1) Have easy way to see pictures or gallery. And have pictures shown by mouse over thumbnails or gallery for each women in a new tab or window. Having a thumbnail being able to then see larger version easily is very helpful. A good example of the mouse over option used by Glen who does Phoenix Provider websites and has a master directory at http://www.phoenix411.net/escorts/escorts.htm If you open any of the escorts pictures, it goes to their section with mouse over images on the left with the images on right. Some sites do this with dozens of pictures with larger screen size etc.

2) DO NOT use Microsoft coding on website. This use to not be much of a problem when 98% of all folks used (or were stuck with) Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE). Now there are far better browsers that are gaining popularity very fast, especially Mozilla Firefox which I use. I especially love the tabs for different websites easy to choose without having to minimize and then maximize each site.I love tabs and all the various things extensions can do far more advanced than IE. The next IE probably will not be out till Longhorn in 2007.

The problem is many provider sites will not open separate windows or tabs they just hang using Firefox since its written for Microsoft Java vs Sun Java. Also the newest browsers are consistent with World Wide Web Consortium Web Standards (www.w3.org). Web standards have existed since the mid-1990s, but Microsoft uses a lot of non compliant code which can not be read with the compliant browsers such as Firefox, Netscape, Opera etc. All of Glens' sites seem to work fine in Firefox.

Many think this is an unfair and possible anti-trust issue where Microsoft ignores the standards and has its own codes that force readers to use IE since other alternatives are written for the International Standards of the The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Firefox has made a huge penetration very quickly into the browser market with maybe 10% now using it and its increasing very rapidly. It is also free as our zillions of extensions to give it zillions of powerful options.

I suggest you use webmasters that know about this issue and will do provider websites that meet the W3C standards, not Microsoft non compliant coding.

Fortunately with Firefox their is an extension so you can Right Click and "Open with IE" but its nice to be able to use Firefox on all websites instead of having to use IE without tabs etc.
