Named names before conviction? Is that legal? A little tasteless, but what can you expect from a redneck community like Belleville.

Exactly! What the hell happened to `considered innocent until proven guilty`!! Good grief, destroy a man`s reputation before he`s even had his day in court! And even if you ARE convicted, it`s still very tasteless and vindictive to publish names. I was watching the news the other night, and some local spokeswoman/do-gooder was vowing to `clean up Belleville`s downtown`, so I suppose next they`ll start targeting the two clubs in town? Sad...

It has always been that way.

I recall years ago in my small town the local paper would run the names of all people picked up for Impaired and such...charged, etc.

That is why even today, newscasts are careful to always say that people are 'charged' and considered innocent until conviction.

Yes they are innocent....but salacious news sells papers don't you know. Ask Rob Ford. He too got lambasted in the papers...WITHOUT FORMAL CHARGES.

At least the Johns in Belleville have been 'charged'

Wow a couple guys in their 70's and one 81, I hope I'm able "enjoy" the ladies when I reach that age. Congrats to those guys for keeping it "up"!!!

Oh yes, good `ol Toronto mayor Rob Ford! Mr. `party-hardy`! lol There are similarities all right. Yes, he made some stupid choices as too who he hangs out with, but your`re right, he was never actually charged with anything, yet his reputation was completely destroyed by the national media. When, during an emotional news conference, he quite rightly blasted those reporters who were literally hiding in the bushes behind his home, everyone simply laughed at him! Likewise, these poor fellas who have now been publicly shamed in small town Belleville, what hope do they have of a normal life?

I personally avoid Street walkers at all costs. Not worth the risk for this reason let alone the safety side of it for all involved. However, I disagree with posting names. If they are married or have SO's that's their issue to deal with but some guys may be unattached and extremely lonely not knowing where else to turn. Someone in their 80's being publicly shamed when you don't know the back story seems wrong. I only hope I can consider play time in another 40 years.

Newspapers can only print the facts, i.e. names of charged. And even then, a newspaper can report on news that may or may not be accurate/true i.e Rob Ford video (insert own comments here). It is up to them to weigh out the facts and see what sells and what can get them in trouble...notice how RF hasn't taken them to court yet, as far as I know.
So, better to avoid the street walkers, just in case...lol :)

Oh please, do you have any idea how many politicians (in every level), police officers/officials, lawyers/judges, CEO's/business owners, key and important people in the community, see and visit escorts. And that its also not just men doing it, its women too.

Plus, passing judgement on situation you have no idea about it is stupid. What if they are married and their partner cannot have sex? Hmm? Then what? I'm pretty sure you'd be cheering and saying "you go girl" if it was a woman in such a situation, as most women are hypocrites when it comes to the same situations.

Trust me, if there was anyone of key importance in Belleville and was nabbed in this sting, this story never would have seen the light of day.

I went to school with one of the guys named. Also, the sw action is so bad there, one walked up to me right by the pool hall.....at 10 o'clock in the morning!!

Only innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, not on the street, sort of speak. They can do what they want, and clearly do.
