IRANIAN FILMMAKER WITNESSES PROSTITUTION IN IRAN.
SITV, FEBRUARY 6,2001
A conversation with Moslem Mansouree, researcher and filmmaker of many documentaries, who has recently come from Iran. He has made a documentary about prostitute women and street girls in today's Iran. SITV Feb 6,01
*MOSQUES HAVE TURNED INTO NEW BROTHEL HOUSES Mosques have turned into new Brothel Houses. There are albums with pictures of war widows. Men come and select from the pictures and the priest of that Mosque will arrange for temporary marriage. These temporary marriages could be effective for few minutes, few hours or few years, and always is called off by men. If a child is conceived, the father can totally deny it. The law would accept man's claim and announce the child as "illegitimate". It is always women who are punished. These days, instead of using a catalog, they have provided slippers (casual shoes) with numbers on them. Each number identifies one woman. The male customers take their chances by simply picking a number for having their women.
*-In order for me to be able to produce my documentaries, I had to observe closely the situations and places these women were in. Therefore, I have gone to many of these places and interviewed them. In the most of these cases women clearly stated that "We are the victims of Islamic Government and what is happening to us is an inevitable consequence of economic, social and political conditions in Iran." In Iran's prisons, the Guards ask the female prisoners for sexual favors and rape them, in return for reducing their sentence.
*I met several female students of the Azad University who were forced into prostitution in order to make a living.
*Mob groups bring young girls from Azarbayejan of Iran and Russia, and force them into sexual exploitation by the authorities of Islamic Government.
