So I've notice lately that I have had problem with my current phone which is with telus...I use a pay as you go paid month by month and I have had more than one person telling me that sometime when they call me they go directly to the voice mail and I seem to not receive all of the texts some people send me...

Has anyone else experience this?

I recently switched to Telus so I have yet to experience any issues. My friend however, she's been with Telus for along time and HAS experienced what you're describing. Most annoyingly would be her double, sometimes triple texts that come through. Or she would receive texts which are delayed by xx hrs or even days...

From what I understand, some of the Telus phones are still using the older UMTS network, which is overcrowded and I would suspect that this is the main reason.

Which phone do you have?

There are also several other factors :

1 - Sender/caller's network is having issues - My colleague recently had this happen on the Rogers network. He would not be able to make or receive calls, but can text without issue. The connection itself was also intermittent, one minute it would work, and then BAM nothing.

2 - Sender/caller's phone is having issues - My friend once "sent" me a text. I never got it. Only when he had to reboot his phone several days later, did the text actually make it to me. No idea what caused it though.

No worries, this is my inner geek talking. LOL

Like I mentioned, if it's a phone running on the older network, that's your main culprit.
If it's a new phone, it could be the phone or the sender. If it's the phone, I suggest having it replaced by Telus (if possible).

Same problem.

Had it with my old phone. Upgraded to 3G, problem went away. After a couple of years, problem is back.

I suspect that as the network gets busier, it gets overcrowded. Same thing happens on a friend's Roger's phone.
