Non TERB-ite (female) friend has a cranky laptop. The keyboard is substituting numbers and symbols for letters when she types.

Anyone able to suggest what is wrong and where or how to fix it?

Thx in adv.

You have NUMLOCK turned on. Since there is no number pad on a laptop
keyboard, a section of the keyboard substitutes numbers for letters when
NUMLOCK is engaged. Turn NUMLOCK off and the original values of the keys
(letter or symbol) are available once again. With many laptops there is a
Fn key that needs to be pressed along with NUMLOCK to toggle the function
on/off.

A lot of laptop keyboards have number pads now... Both mine do. Just had to point that out, because you are saying it like none of them do, which is lies.
Oherwise, good advice.

Last message I got was that she thought that she had found it and that she loved me. So the advice re numlock might've worked out.
