I’m visiting Ottawa next week and I see that club Alpha and Hush are popular but they require you to be members. What’s up with that? Am I able to book with them directly?

Yes, just call the clubs directly, and set an appointment to visit the club. They are fairly accommodating. For the most part, a membership allows you to book online and not by phone.
