I'm a big fan of music and have well over 20 gigs of music. But I haven't bit the bullet and bought a portable mp3 player, yet. How much cheaper do you guys think the 30 gb mp3 players will get?

Course I keep thinking that I might just be better off getting a mp3 player for my car because ultimately that's where I listen to most of my music away from home.

Mind you it'd be nice to bring a ipod or quivalent over to a friends play, plug it in and play.

Well an iPod can get over $600 and an in car CD w/mp3 is only max $150 installed. Your choice. New car stereos are also starting to come with jacks for MP3 players to plug directly in, you know just to confuse your choice.

Next gen iPods will be out by the end of next summer, gonna be redesigned and battery life improved, but chances are at the halfway point current prices may drop in antcipation of the next gens.

If you're implusive now, the new Creative Zen Vision ($399.99 - 30 GB) or the smaller Creative Zen Vision M ($329.99 - 30 GB) are the best choices to go with right now. They're cheaper than iPods and have way more features, but they're thicker in size and the movie conversion/support suck.

I have a 60 GB iPod and a Sony car deck that's MP3/XM/iPod compatible and it's great being able to hookup the iPod. I haven't used a CD in forever.

I took a quick look at the futureshop website to see what kinds of mp3 car audio they had. Is there such thing as a mp3 player for the car with a harddrive?

Oh and of course thanks for the input thus far.
