Forgive me but I have never been to Chinatown. I hate going downtown because of all the parking headaches. Will I find them there if I do go?

please PM me with any info...it would be greatly appreciated
ok... hold your hand I will...

There is a "Green P" parking lot that serves Kensington and Chinatown, make the first left after Dundas, going northbound on Spadina. Park there, cheap and easy. Once parked, exit and walk towards Spadina, turn right and walk southbound on Spadina. About 30 m down you'll find an Asian grocery store (don't know the name) in a basement on your right, before you get to Dundas. Walk in and ask for "xün mei". If you can't pronounce that, say "sheen mei". Want fries with that?

Depending on the dialect (mandarin in this case) I think its pronounced like "swan may" I've had those before and they are tasty. Aren't there some asian markets and stores in the leslie steeles area? But Pacific Mall is definitely a good choice.

I gave him the cantonese pronounciation - given the statistics, he won't likely go wrong. But thanks for your input.

Between a rock and a hard place
There is a good all Asian grocery store at the Promenade Mall and another on Weston Road north of Lawrence on the west side.

Thanks guys. I grew up on these(as well as the orange coloured ones) in the Jamaica and had to resort to asking my sister to bring them for me whenever she visited Canada. Silly me forgot that Canada has a much bigger asian(chinese) population.

Now, about bear claws and coffee rings. Need a good pastry store. Damn, stores and plazas in Mississauga are so dry! Love living here though.
:D

Aren't they called 'salt prunes' in the islands?
A Trini buddy of mine bites the pit open and eats the pulp inside, wierd.
Don't get the packaged ones, there are several stores that sell them in bulk bins. They are fresher, cheaper and there's more variety.
If you are in Mississauga, go to Dragon Mall, Dundas between Dixie and Cawthra on the south side.
