It's already been mentioned in another thread about various pre-paid credit cards but some of those cards have become obsolete. The worst pre-paid service has to be with money mart and specifically the titanium plus card with all its extra service charges. Not only the card but the incompetent customer service and rude people that work for money mart and the 800#-call center. The card is actually distributed by a company in the US-Utah to be exact and money mart has since taken over the customer service side of the card. It's actually a joke how clueless the customer service people are. Can anyone recommend a company other then money mart/titanium plus card in Canada that offers great service without all the bogus service charges? Thanks.

Sorry Evan but all of the companies that offer prepaid cards have crazy service charges. On west cost there is a company called Vancity who offers prepaid Visa cards but they also have those service charges. Same goes for the cards in US.

pre-paid cards

do theses cards actually help with your credit rating..

IMO NO!!!

i don't think there is a difference between prepaid cards and your atm debit card.. no money no honey...

also i have seen on the internet that some credit card companies offer a credit card with a high limit if you paid into it..

ie: 500.oo limit and if your want to increase the limit by 100.00 dollars you have to give them the hundred and you will receive an increase plus you now will be charge a ridiculous amount of interest for unpaid balances..

talk about legal scams:eek:

You can only spend what you put into the credit card.Plus what ever the fee's set aside at Money mart---I think it's like a $40 activation fee.No billing statements and no interests.sounds good except for the fee.But than it's better than getting statements every month for charges.

Ubless your credit is shot, I don't understand the advantage of pre paid credit cards.
Generally speaking those people who have ruined their credit are the one's these cards are aimed at.

I supposed if you are bad with money, but still want the advantages a credit card can give you (renting a car sort of thing) this would be a way to do it without having the danger of overspending yourself perhaps.
