When I first saw this article I thought what a horrible thing to do.....then I listened to the newscaster say their names with such pride and professionalism.......and being completely oblivious to anything while she did it...and ..well...I'm sorry..it's awful but LOLED at it

I at first thought it was something that The Onion did, but it was real. That she said it and didn't clue in is amazing. Apparently some intern at the NTSB, which doesn't give out crew names anyway, gave the station these names.

Don Henley has a real point in "Dirty Laundry." One would have thought that the very first thing which would have given news staff at KTVU pause was that the names did not at all sound Korean.

I am appalled. This isn't some telephone prank like Bart Simpson calling Moe's bar. This is suppose to be a list of names of people who recently died in a plane crash. This is mean spirited and inappropriate, innocent people died tragically.

The pilots didn't die in the crash.

You're correct, it's a list of the pilots and not the people who died. It's still mean spirited and inappropriate.
Oh I dunno, the NTSB doesn't give out crew names, you'd think any respectible news agency would know this, but they contacted them anyways. They were given obviously false names - well obvious to everyone but them I guess as it turns out - which they chose to report. I really doubt the intern intended for anything more to happen then for them to get a clue and stop bothering him/her otherwise they would have given fake names that were more plausible.

Two Toronto Star reporters have heard the cockpit voice recorder tapes. Captain Robert Ford, known to be a "crack pilot", definitely apparently had an autothrottle in one fat hand and a bag of Doritos in the other. First Officer Douglas "DC-3" Ford, Tried Motoring away but the Captain was determined to destroy the City (of San Francisco),

When put on-the-spot leaving a portable toilet at a Ford BBQ, Ford denied being "high" or flying a plane. Thereby admitting he was too low or, as suspected, was using both hands to eat the Doritos.

Over to you fuji....

Asiana Airlines considering legal action against TV station, NTSB

(CNN) -- Asiana Airlines is considering legal action against Oakland's KTVU television and the National Transportation Safety Board.

This, after a summer intern at the NTSB mistakenly confirmed "inaccurate and offensive" names as those of the four pilots of Flight 214 that crashed last week in San Francisco.

The bogus names that phonetically spelled out phrases such as "Something Wrong" and "We Too Low" were read during KTVU's noon broadcast Friday.

Regarding the KTVU-TV's demeaning report of the pilots on July 12, ASIANA Airlines is reviewing possible legal action against KTVU-TV and the NTSB," the airline said in a statement.

"The reputation of the four pilots and of the company had been seriously damaged by this report. The company is reviewing taking legal action against both KTVU-TV and the NTSB."

BIG denial in progress that culture played a part. apparently, junior pilots tried to tell the senior they were too low. asiana says NOPE, we've changed our culture! hard to believe. what's funny is that if air canada only had white pilots, people would be screaming. but most other countries get a free pass. passengers pay the price.

funny in a way but kind of tells you that some news stations don't even check and recheck their sources before reporting the news to the public.
