The more allies that are on board the better politically. The more troops that are on the ground the better militarily. Work still needs to be done on both fronts before the shooting starts.

It's 90% preparation and 10% execution.

In some ways I have the opposite view, I like watching Iraqi thugs on the spike.

hmmmm after the UN inspectors are done in Iraq and given the green light to the US and its puppy Britain to kill more Iraqi innocents, and topple a regime they helped prop up for years, perhaps they could take a tour of the neighborhood and go down to Israel.

Which has had weapons of mass destruction for years and makes no secret about this, and has been defying UN resolutions regarding their occupation of Palestinian land for over 35 years, then perhaps i will have more confidence in this whole lets bomb Iraq crap :)

I do have a question though. Why didn't General Powell release his intelligence info to Hans Blix months ago? Its not very pro-active considering the demands Iraq was put under with UN resolution 1441.

You do not get it do you "d". The States have to be careful what they release. The info can compromise lives. For heaven's sake start thinking.

If you look real close at the bottom of the document the tiny marks you'll see is the signature "J. Goebbels".

You know... I did not find any of what Powell divulged shocking... and I am still not in favor of war. Everything short of regime change can be achieved through peaceful means... and if the republicans think star wars is still viable (Bush has made statements to this effect), I think it is far more viable to scrub Iraq than "space" (never mind it is within the realm of physics).

If the US is going to go in, then go into Saudi as well (a far stronger link to Al Qaeda... hell, the Bush family has stronger links to Saddam than Al Qaeda)... go into North Korea... go into China... and they should try not to murder any more Canadian soldiers while they are at it.

Peace out... now more than ever.

Its possible that lives could have been compromised if the info was released to the public any earlier. But like the info released to the UN by Iraq under resolution 1441, it didn't have to go public first.

I suppose the USA could just turn over all of its intelligence information to such trustworthy security council members like Syria, China and Russia. I'm sure that the only reason these countries want to know how the CIA gathers intelligence is to give a fair trial to the misunderstood Iraqi regime.

How do I know that this same guy will be using the "I was just following orders" defense by April.

Souser,

One at a time man, one at a time. I like your thinking though. I have many problems with Israel that I think a US/UN occupation could improve. But I think that's another thread.

The interesting thing about the whole, give peace a chance appeasement crowd, is that no one really argues that Iraq doesn't have these weapons (or at least no one with a brain) or has not broken UN resolutions. It's all stall and do nothing. Iraq was ordered to destroy these weapons over a decade ago, why do you think anything important is going to happen to change their behavior in the next couple of months? Why do you think the inspectors are there now?

d, I'm certain they did give and continue to give the UN inspectors intelligence. Follow the logic, we have pictures of a site before the UN team gets there, we have pictures of it being cleaned up and we have pictures of the UN Land Cruisers rolling in. You don't think there was a tad of coordination in that?

ok first of all i do apologize for my lengthy rant on this top, just trying to redirect the discussion to that darling of the American media which is the only country that still practices foreign occupation, of course i am talking about Israel.

Second I will agree with ya OTB i have little or no respect for the looney toon anti war movement who range from extreme left wing lunatics to anti West Muslims, also i really also have to question what threat or to whom Iraq really is, since lets be honest the vast majority of the power of the Iraqi military was destroyed nicely back in 1991. So i really dont buy the attack now and attack hard crap coming from the war hawks since all they will be attacking is innocent civilians who do share a tremendous hatred of the Iraqi regime that has made their lives miserable., and yes again i know i am on a rant
