Well it's that time of year when all those packages will be shipped out and delivered to homes after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
I bet the porch pirates are planning their routes already. Stalking those UPS, Fed Ex, Amazon and other big shipping companies.

You have to watch the guys delivering the packages to you door as well. A while back I ordered 3 identical computer monitors from Best Buy. I was driving up to the house when I saw a Canada Post guy jump out of his truck and dump one monitor at my door and ran back to his truck like there was a bomb in the box. I got out of my car and asked him if there were two more boxes, he seemed nervous and said no and drove off. The next day I was driving up at to the house about the same time. there he was again dropping off the two missing boxes, again he dashed off like there was a bomb in the box. When he saw me he said hello but was all shifty eyed. I think the guy wanted to keep two of the monitors and blame it on porch pirates.

Porch pirate tries to steal the guy's package, but the victim still offers to help him get away. This is the most fucking Canadian thing ever.

If the item is expensive or large, I ship the package to a Canada Post office.

Do this as well, also have an agreement with 3 neighbours to keep an eye out and take in packages for each other.

I ordered one of those doorbell cameras from Amazon only for the porch pirate to steal it. Needless to say, I didn't catch him in the act. I have my packages shipped to a pickup location like Canadapost.

I have shrubs that are sited across the walkway to my driveway.
They shield the view of the bottom half of our front door from the street.

Our amazon address is;

Hence the door bell gets rung about one tenth of the time.

I don't understand delivery drivers these days, especially amazon and 3rd party food deliverers. Drop the package by the door then take a picture of it.

Dear dumbo drivers:
Did it ever occur to you to ring the frickin door bell? Especially if the car is in the driveway and the lights are on?
AND if you do dump the parcel off at the door, TRY to make an effort to make the parcel invisible from the sidewalk, eg hiding it behind the blue bin, putting it in between the doors if it fits or off to the side.

Every once in a while we'll get a driver who's on the ball and they'll put the parcel behind one of our garbage bins which are on our veranda, next to our front door. It is much appreciated.

It's all about money and efficiency. UPS, and Amazon drivers (many of them independent contractors) aren't being paid to hide packages or consider if might be visible from the sidewalk. They're paid by the volume of packages they deliver. Just be thankful that they don't chuck the package out the window as they drive by because that happens a lot.
