pop up warning

The post about gtaforums. com should come with a pop up warning. Now, some time after clicking on the site, I am still getting pop-up. My computer sudddenly changes screens and I go to a porno site or an animation site. Any advise on how to stop this is welcomed

Thanks Kathleen-Things seem to have quieted down. I cleared all cookies. After clearing cookies it still happened, But has not happened for some time now.

One more question: I use a Mac Powerbook. Does the Spybot work for Macs?

The source website for SpyBot is http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html. Downloading it from another site, you might actually be downloading a software that mimics SpyBot but in reality ADDS pop-ups.

Also use Ad-Aware from Lavasoft

Hi-Thanks for all the info. I am learning a lot. Seems that the SpyBot is not of use to me as it will not work with Mac OSX. I am still investigating the macworld site and I have a message out to a friend who has use Macs for years.

In general I do wonder about these spy programs. Is this something quite new? I have never been aware of them before. Who puts them out there? Is it the dreaded "them"?

Have you tried your browsers (netscape/explorer) POP-UP Blocker? It's found under Tools.
