Regarding Mr. Martin and the big kerfuffle about his business interests, how many think that a Prime Minister could run the country fairly and without conflict if he/she has a business that could be affected by their decisions?
The point at issue is that politicians must not only be without conficts of interest, they must also APPEAR to be so for the sake of public trust in the office. If you are the Minister of Transportation and have controlling interest of West Jet, that's a conflict.
Politicians without conflicts of interests .....ain't going to happen . Whether it be their pals ( Johnny Crouton and his buddy that owned the hotel ) , their political supporters or their business interests .
None of this is new and this is just a case of taking pot-shots at the frontrunner .
I somehow trust a guy who is already wealthy more than someone dying for the opportunity to suck on the public teat to become financially comfortable .
Who is more likely to be more competent ? Martin or Layton ?
