A 71-year-old Toronto man who was the subject of a British documentary called "The Conman with 14 Wives" has been arrested and charged with bigamy.
Police arrested Oliver John Killeen in Toronto today after an alleged victim came forward, said Det. Rob Ermacora.
Police allege the man has multiple spouses in Canada, England and Ireland, and has never obtained a legal divorce for any of his marriages.
"And that's what we know of. We might still find more," he said.
Investigators are urging any women who have been married to or had relationships with Killeen to contact police, he said.
Killeen had boasted to the Star in October 2006 that he was dating several women at once and that he had been married 19 times.
The first marriages allegedly occurred in the 1970s.
In June 2004, Killeen was sentenced to three years in a British jail for bigamy and was subsequently deported to Canada after one of his wives, British schoolteacher Margaret Curtin, complained to police.
"This is a man who is a predator. He really seeks out women, usually with the intention of defrauding them and utterly controlling them, and obviously he's shown his predatory nature again," Curtin told the Star in 2007.
In an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper in 2006, Killeen commented on his relationships with several women.
"I gave women what they wanted. If they were foolish enough to marry me within a few weeks of meeting me that was up to them. They should have asked more questions," Killeen was quoted as saying.
His first, legal marriage, which took place in Toronto, produced eight children. He had one other child with another wife.
Killeen is scheduled to appear in court March 24
