While passing through London I decided to try the Platinum based on reports on this board. The half hour at $35 is a nude massage with a HR. I chose Melissa, who seemed nice at the front desk. Almost immediately upon getting into the room she started talking about tips. She immediately went for the jewels and I turned over sooner than I'd have preferred. I asked her to slow down, but she got the oil and got me off inside of five minutes of arriving. She then told me that the session was over because I'd chosen to flip. I said, no, I paid for a half hour massage and that's what I expected. She made a half-hearted attempt at giving a massage, all the while asking me if I tipped appropriately, etc. After about ten minutes of this I told her that was fine, it was enough. I got dressed and started to leave and she started screaming at me about a tip. I told her that I tipped based on attitude and performance and she threatened me. I said to go for it, do what you have to, but that I paid for a session and I was leaving, period. She actually stood in the doorway and cussed me out.
Here's the thing...I believe in tipping these women and I believe in tipping for good service. All I got from her was attitude. I carry a couple of large bills when I go into a place like that. I save the hundred dollar bill for someone who doesn't mention tipping at all and who tries to do the best session she can. But even someone who mentions it once and does a good job and doesn't cop an attitude will see fifty. It's very very rare that I don't tip at all, but a tip is just that: a tip. It shows that one is pleased with the service. I may go back and try someone else next time I am in the area, but more likely I'll try a different establishment. Maybe she was having a bad day, who knows? But there was no way I was going to tip that woman.
I think as a rule we hobbiests should be more discerning when it comes to tipping. As I said, I'm happy to give a tip for good attitude and service, but I'm totally unwilling to give in to unreasonable demands. Thanks.
