I have to replace a few plastic light lenses in my kitchen. Of coarse they are not the standard size and have to be cut. So far I have scoured them with a knife and snapped them like drywall.
This is very time consuming and leaves a jacked edge. Is there a better way of cutting them

It is hard to give you an answer when I can not see what you are trying to do and what equipment you have available to you. If you have a Dremel tool

you can saw through the plastic with a rotary cut off bit. Try scoring the plastic deeply and give it a quick snap on the edge of a table. If you are concerned with jagged edges, try a wire cutter to clean off the edges.

The Dremel rotary tool can also sand the edges for you.

I buy my tools on special even before I need them, these days with the cost of labor it pays to have tools. Sometimes you can get the Canadian Tire house brand version of the Dremel tool for as low as $10-12.

I am sure Canus Plastics on Conroy Rd. can help you with that lens.
