Is it just me or are there others who think that Pierre McGuire is just painful to listen to?

Trying to watch the world junior tournament accompanied by his incessant babbling is like being trapped in a sports bar with some know it all drunk who just won't shut up. while he does make some valid observations he seems to find it necessary to comment on everything that happens on the ice. I know there have been plenty of commentators who think they are the star of the show (madden comes to mind) McGuire's continual prattle detracts from the whole experience.

And if I hear "monster" one more time...

I can not believe he is seriously being considered by HNC when the season resumes.

I think Bob Mackenzie would be a much better colour commentator than Pierre Maguire.

Pierre is more suited to radio. His in-depth analysis and non-stop babbling make up for the dead-air & non visual perpsective of radio.

I agree with fangs, Paul Romanuk and Gary Green were the voice of the Canadian Junior Nationals for several years.

Peter MaGuire definitly talks like he's paid by the word but I do like his in-depth analysis of everything he covers. He certainly knows what he's talking about and it seems like he is pretty emotional about the game.

I actually went to ND to catch a couple games and was out by the desk where they do the pre and post game stuff with the team there and beyond the Gino and Go Jet Go chants, I could not understand the Pierre Sucks, Bobby Rules deal. McGuirre is so much better than the pacificist, gob knobbing Gary Green who just always seems to be whining about any physical play.

The biggest buffoon on the TSN staff is McKenzie. The guy never takes the side of an issue and always seems to repeat whatever has been said by everybody else. Insider my ass.

McGwire needs to back it off about one or two notches - but his energy and knowledge are great. I do miss Romanuk - he was the voice of international hockey to me. Agreed that Pierre needs to tone it down a bit as a colour commentator but I also agree the guy is damn insightful. I did laugh a few times last night when he made some comments like when Phaneuf hit two and he was getting so excited! and when he said "this isnt about Milk and Cookies baby"! He's a great analyst but not such a good commentator. Illl also agree that Romanuk is missed. Ive watched this tourny every year for as long as i can remember and he's the voice. But Romanuk sucks at basketball
