Hi,
a funny story : last week at the airport the security signal beeped when a lady marched through the frame. It made a beep and she finally had to show her belly button piercing........lol.
Anyone ever had that experience ?? I dont have piercings .....
well good the piercing was only at the belly.......other places may have been complicated to explore.....

Really Retired.....REALLY!
I pretty much doubt that a small belly piercing would be enough to set off the alarm. It must have been something else, a belt buckle maybe?

I have a few piercings, a couple are quite large and I have always gone through security with no problems at all. Wearing sweats with nothing in my pockets and putting my purse and carry on through the ex-ray the metal detector never goes off.

That's happened to me on a few occasions. Now, to avoid any unecessary hassle (it's bad enough going through the checkpoint the way it is) I make sure I put my belt in my carry-on before I walk through the metal detector. I used to think that the devices compensated for these sorts of items, as watches do not set them off at all. I was wrong.

There is a difference between detector that you walk through and the wand that they use which is waved very close to your body . A piercing can be undetected by the walk-through but picked up by the wand . I think there is also a difference in how sensitive various airports have the detectors set . In only about 50% of the cases my watch sets off the alarm walking through ....same watch all the time .

One of my favourite Indy's in Montreal has a clitorial hood piercing and told me of a story where she was coming back from Boston and had the ' once-over" with the wand . Fortunately she had a female security agent and was not subjected to a strip search to confirm what it was .

Good ol Airports!!!

I have been through at least three different aiports in the past year, wearing jeans no belt....And everytime I have gone through, I get beeped. When they take thier MAGIC wand to me it always seems that my watch and rings go off as well as the stupid metal studs that are on jean pockets.

It is quite embarassing to say the least, but I would rather it go off for small things than not at all.

I've got about 25 pounds of metal in my body as a result of a car accident requiring large amounts of surgery.

yes, it sets off metal detectors and sometimes its annoying.
