What do you guys look for?

From what I can see 24" and 22" widescreen there's a bit of a price jump.

What is considered HD for monitors? I mean looking at them they don't seem to advertise say 1080p like they do with TVs. What are the resolution numbers that represent this?

Prices seem to range between 2 and 4 hundred so I'm just trying to get a better sense of things.

There is no such thing as HD monitors because there's no such thing as standard definition monitors. Computer displays are not restricted to 720p and 1080p.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WUXGA is probably what you're looking for.

When you're looking at monitors you need to consider more than the size. Samsung make some really nice digital monitors, which will also connect to analog (VGA) monitor ports. If you buy an analog monitor you can't do the digital connect. Also, check the contrast ratio and refresh time. That's what I really like about the Samsung models. You can get one with a 2 millisecond refresh. Combine that with a fast video card and you're smokin'.
