What kind of phone do you have? There's others with physical keyboards. Go to Future Shop, Best Buy, Rogers or Bell where you can browse various products. I know you said other than Blackberry but the Q10 is a good phone if you need real buttons.

This is a powerful toolset for such activities……

I had the HTC Desire Z a few years ago. It was an amazing phone until it was throw across a room directly at a wall and broke into pieces. It was a durable phone, compact and easy to use. I find the phone it was replaced with to be a pain in the ass. I have the HTC one S, I've had it since it first came out and I would trade it for the desire Z in a heartbeat. I miss being able to type and actually spell what I meant to spell. Touch screens suck so much, but you can only find keyboards on low end phones.

Probably looking for something with a vast app library or concerned about Blackberry's viability in the consumer space.
Tons of free apps for BB10 devices here. http://bb10bars.net/

And in other news, BlackBerrys around the world are working just fine. :D

OMG what is that magical device and how do I get one?

HAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, they're hard to find. I'm always looking for one of those when I pick up food in the bulk section. I end up putting the bin numbers in my smartphone. :D

I miss my Z. The keyboard was so much better than my touchscreen. Unfortunately a Lindt chocolate killed the keyboard and a brief dunking later on knocked out the phone.
