Was downloading movies on home PC which I rarely use. Then started getting these popup messages from Security Tool abut your computer is infected etc etc. At first I thought Security Tool was the security from Windows Vista itself, but apparently not. I guess the Security Tool is the virus itself? It has an icon on the desktop, no where I can close it permanently or delete it. If you click on turn on security or the likes, it takes you to sign up with credit card page.
I downloaded AVG, but everytime start it, there would be another popup. I did had Trend Micro an was running it when I first encountered the problem, but had to restart computer and after that I basically cannot do much with getting those popups that covers the whole page, almost like another desktop. What to do?
Please help!
Thank you

Thanks! I googled this problem on google as well. But at first I could not do anything, run trend micro that I already had or install AVG. Kept getting popups everything I try to do something. Went to safe mode and deleted the files there, only 1 file and 1 icon.

Which is better, Trend Micro or AVG? Do these free ones actually block virus or any do scans and find it that way? TrenMicro did not do anything.

No AV free or paid version is foolproof.
Bad stuff can get through ALL of them once in awhile.

I've had good luck with Avast for the times M$ is used.

believe it or not: Best Security Tool (Antivirus): Microsoft Security Essentials (free)

Step one: It's free. Step two: It's one of the highest-rated free antivirus and anti-malware apps out there. Step three: It's unobtrusive and easy-to-use. Bonus step: Microsoft makes it, and they've managed to make a product that's durable, comprehensive, and simple.

It's funny how there was all this apprehension and skepticism about a Microsoft-based security program before its grand Security Essentials tool was released. And yet, here we are months after the fact, and MSE has catapulted itself to the top of the freeware list for its stellar virus and malware detection abilities. Who would have thought? Crazier still, AV-Comparatives.org just recently named MSE as its best-performing, freeware, anti-malware application of the whole bunch.

It's almost too much to type, but there you have it. Microsoft Security Essentials is the freeware program to pick up if you're at-all concerned about the general security and welfare of your system. MSE features real-time protection elements, daily updates for virus and spyware definitions, and easy scheduling for fuller scans... and that's about it. The program isn't laden with a ton of options but, in this case, maybe that's a good thing considering just how well it performs with what little it needs you to input.

AGREED!

I put Microsoft Security Essentials on my new PC running W7 and like it.....for the little W7 is used. Microsoft Security Essentials scans fast, is very easy to use and is not a resource hog like many other AV apps.
