I have a much needed vacation booked in Pattaya Thailand from September 3rd to the 24th. I have been reading reports about the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia with dozens killed and thousands displaced. A ceasefire is supposedly in place but has been violated multiple times. It’s about 250 kms distance between the Cambodian border and Pattaya or Bangkok’s main airport. Not very far if the conflict escalates.
I have seriously started thinking about cancelling, would only lose about $200 from my flight. Don’t want to be involved in any fighting or stranded there if the airport gets shut down. To top it all off the Air Canada flight attendants might go on strike. I am flying from Pearson to Narita Japan with Air Canada.
Am I over thinking this? Should I go ahead with my trip or just cancel. Have to Pattaya twice before and had a blast both times.
What does Terb think. I would be happy to hear any all comments.

You are seriously overthinking it.

The Cambodian army is not going to be able to advance more than a few miles over the disputed line, nor would they want to.

The cease fire will soon hold, by the way. China is going to make sure of that.

If the Cambodian soldiers go to Pattaya, it will be unarmed and in order to get laid.

And won’t Air Canada book you with one of its airline partners if the strike occurs? Either United or the Japanese airline that is in the Star Alliance? That alliance is huge involving Asia.

I would say the three main hotspots for mongering in Thailand would be Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. Bangkok for the big city vibe and tourist attractions, Phuket for the beaches and Pattaya for plain old sex. Phuket is probably the priciest of the three while Pattaya has thousands of girls to choose from in all price ranges.
