That is the problem with cancer, you may be in remission but you can never get rid of it. I read a report that stated cancer has its own stem cells and chemotheraphy alone cannot rid the body of them. I wish Pat Burns all the best, he didn't deserve this.

He had colon cancer originally. The newspaper says the second was liver and now lungs. What I bet is happening is that it's metastisized colon cancer which spread to the liver and then the lungs. This is exactly what has happened to my wife.
This is the classic spread pattern of the desease. A common misunderstanding but just because the tumour is now on his lung doesn't mean it's lung cancer. It's still colon cancer cells but now spread to his lungs. Surprisingly this makes quite a difference as all cancers are slightly different
The liver isn't so bad sometimes. If the tumour is concentrated in one spot because they can remove half your liver and it will grow back in a year. Lungs are obviously a bigger problem.
The statistics aren't very good for metastisized colon cancer - 50% chance of living two years and 10% chance for 5 years. My wife is 4 years after her liver and is currently taking chemo for lesions on her lung.
It's a tough fight and the fucking desease just won't leave you alone for too long once it gets a grip on you. My heart goes out to him.
