Parttime job

looking for a part time gig or secondary income. I'm looking to move into another place and thus expenses are higher as well. I have a decently paid full time but looking to make some extra cash.... I was thinking about UBER but I have a nice car and don't want to ruin it driving it around.

any suggestions for a part time gig? trying to keep the stupid comments away pls... thnaks all

I would think a job is an editor would be out of the question...
What are your skills ? What do you LIKE to do ?
I have friends that are into sports that don't mind retail so they work a couple of shifts a week at Sportcheck...The hours aren't crazy (neither is the money), but they get excellent discounts on stuff they need / use...
In other words try finding a job in a field you're interested in.

More information about you is needed. Age? skills? education? fitness level? No point saying bicycle courier if you're 55 and 300 lbs.

Take some free or paid online courses to upgrade your skills to land that better job or start something on the side perhaps. Two of my fav sites are Lynda.com (subscription site) and Coursera (free). Lynda.com has a wide variety of courses for business, entrepreneurship and lots of IT topics like PhotoShop, programming, etc. Coursea is more on the academic side, but there are some IT courses. Coursera is free so it's worth checking out. There are many other sites like this too. Best of all, you can do the courses at home.

Make youtube review videos...I did this for tech reviews in the past and still getting cheques from google totalling between $4-5k per year. If you do more it will just keep adding up. It's not great but if you have talent and are likeable you can make some serious cash and not too hard to make videos now days..maybe do exercise videos, or handy many videos, or cooking videos, or all the above...try to turn your hobbies into money makers...lol.. I don't do videos anymore becuase they take too much time and I don't need the money...maybe I pick it up again...it was lots of fun.

I am not sure if everybody is now approved for adsense, however in the past Google would need to approve an adsense account for you if you were getting enough hits on your videos.

The way to start is try to see how the popular reviewers do it or your fave reviewers. You need to think it through a little. See how you are going to talk about a particular subject. If its tech reviews most people like it under 5mins. Try to see what your own needs are or something that is unique or something you solved in the past and that might interest people and that is not out there that much. Like if there is no youtube tutorial on something you find online how to do, then this would be a good start. New phones are always good or cameras or even apps. You need to know your shit becuase people will pick it up quickly if you are bull shitting and will cut you up through comments. Talk clear, make sure it is not monotone and put a little of you in it that will seperate you from the other boring guys doing it. Doing the actual video and uploading it to youtube is easy peasy.

I started with a camcorder back in 2010, then worked my way up to a good P&S shoot and then up to a DSLR. I posted many different things like vacation resort videos, photography videos, timelapses,phone videos, and videos related to computers. It took a while for people to recognize me and for the money to start building up, because it all depends on the volume of hits on your video. But now its funny cause I have not uploaded a video in over 1.5 years and am still getting paid.

So in simple terms just start making videos and posting them to youtube and refine yourself as you go and each time improve something else. The hits and comments will motivate you to make more. There is no real answer on the best way to do it because that space is so dynamic...as long as you have fun doing it and are persistent it should work out.

Ok, I can't resist...turning hobbies into money makers...could this hobby be a money maker? ;-)

Seriously, maybe waiter/bus boy, SP driver (but OP doesn't want to use car), or even renting out his place to an agency or something. Making video reviews sounds cool though, and I'm enough of a geek to pull it off I think...how does one get started? I might be interested too cause I could use the extra cash to feed the hobby!

So many people live above their means only to be house poor, stuff poor, etc. Our economy fluxes enough to make the rich nervous. Why on earth would anyone who needs a second job to afford a better place knowingly put themselves in harms way. Live under your means and tuck away the extra. It must be stressful to live pay check to pay check.

This makes no sense.

Imagine staying where you are living, getting a second job for savings. Even at an extra 1000 a month, that is 12,000 in a year. Now that balance x whatever years and you've got yourself a new car without payments. Or in 3 yrs a decent down payment where you can pay a 600 dollar mortgage instead of 1800 rent. Now your house and car rich.

It has to be with a provider who is mainly an outcall provider to be really worth it. Or try contacting one of the main outcall only or mainly outcall agencies.

I have heard of drivers being extremely successful with exotic dancers?

I never thought about it before until one former dancer explained to me that some dancers may do calls as well (leave the club for an hour or two and come back), some may also work in neighbouring regions far from their home, 4-5 times a week. Ex. A girl resided in Durham region and worked in the West End and Niagara and needed a ride to and from the clubs every time.

Those types of distances add up quickly in a week.

Talk with a tax specialist while you're at it. H&R Block doesn't cut it. The government will have their hands in your pocket long before you get your hands on any extra cash you manage to generate. There may be ways to look at your present situation to see if there's any way to reduce your taxes.
