I dropped in for a quick beer Sat afternoon and was told the palace will no longer be a 'strip' joint, only open Th, Fri, & Sat with live rock bands....hmmm...another one gone..?

I did hear it might have dancers Mon,Tues,Wed... not sure how the girls will go for that, it was dead on a Sat afternoon.

Never been at night so not sure how the night crowds are, I would think better?

In a house somewhere
Well, the beers were $7.25, dances were $20 on the floor, $20+entrance fee for the VIP. Some of the girls were quite attractive, but as they only wanted to dance in the VIP, for $40 a dance it wasn't worth it.

You could go down the road and fork out another $40 or $60 at PA for a better time. So, I guess it's time has come.

Absolutely not surprised. The pricing scheme seemed custom made to drive away customers.

One of the rumors/gossip I've heard is their liquor license is winding down and in order to get it renewed, the strippers had to go. Durham's been trying to get rid of the Palace East in Pickering and the Royal in Whitby for some time. Don't know if there's any truth in it or not so take whatever I say with a grain of salt.

It's somewhat inconvenient for me to go West for my entertainment but hey, I stopped going to the Palace East regularly last year when two out of the three ladies I was fond of moved on. One went to downtown Toronto and lost track of her, and the other became a civilian. The last was a barmaid who made the jump to stripping and the last I heard, she was still working there. I wish her luck in finding somewhere else to work or in choosing a new career path to go forward with.

I'm not surprised that it went under. I work there for 4 years and it was great UNTIL a few people thought they knew bettter than everyone else.
The dancers, for the most part were real cool, professional, friendly BUT you start to bring in troublemakers, ones that are not professional, very rude and it makes my job a hell of a lot harder.
The door people for the most part were real good at there jobs, good to work with. But then came the movie Road House and all of a sudden, every door guy thought he was Dalton it became real hard to work there.
Good staff and door people started to leave, idiots started to be hired, bad move, the place started to get a rep from the cops and patrons, a real mess.

For those who I work with in the early years I thank you, the dancers ( certian ones who I have a SPECIAL friendship with I THANK YOU VERY,VERY,MUCH LOL)
Too the ones that came in and thought that being a doorman would lead to getting laid.........sorry for your luck, you deserved all the bad spots you where in.

Are there any strip clubs left in Durham?

Never been. Don't like strip clubs, and I think being by Pickering Angels would make their business suffer. Why pay to see tits when you can pay to see, fondle, and get a handjob as well? I've always wondered which came first, Palace or Pickering Angels.

too bad as the Palace has been dead for a few years

I recall the early 90's when the line up was out the door for top quality features and they were thriving....

No more girls, my friend (from highschool), was a dancer there (I think her stage name was Temptation, never could remember since I always used her real name), she has now moved onto the joint in Whitby. The place looked like it had potential, but the prices were way too high.

That's too bad...when I started going to SCs a year and half ago, this was one of the spots I would try out after work. I have not been there in 6 months as the servers were too pushy and it was too slow. I enjoyed dances with Trinity (she danced at Filmore's as well), as well as a younger, tall, naturally busty brunette girl from out west..she turned heads but had a bit of an attittude. There was also a classy EE blonde spinner, sexy and mature thirtyish- flight attendant look. Great girls and dances but too expensive of an SC with drinks, cover charge, VIP for my liking.

I should also point out, I did not realize Pickering Angels was down the road for several months...and to Slithery's point, I have not had an urge to go to the Palace when I can drive down the block to PA!

Palace East was formerly know as Tony's East right? The reason I ask is because when I went to Tony's East, there was this Romanian stripper that went by as Nicole. About 5'7", blonde hair, she has the body of like a pornstar with really great tits and ass, good meaty body. Was just wondering if she ever went to Palace East, I'm just curious that's all...

No, Tony's East was in Scarboro. On Sheppard around McCowan. Closed a while back. I believe Palace East is owned by the same person/people though?

The problem I found with the Whitby SC is that it was no milage....mgt was pretty strict and the booths were not private out front...mirrors were around so everyone could enjoy your dance...I can't see the Whitby SC picking up business.
