Let me guess .. You don't floss do you. I used have painful gums too, but after regular flossing its gone. Food gets stuck between teeth grow bacteria colonies like crazy, eats into your gum.

The way you brush can effect your gums. Not brushing properly can cause your gums to receed. If your too rough, if you use the wrong brush or if you brush down into your gums it can cause your gums to receed.

I have that problem from going to town on my teeth. I brushed often, the wrong way, with the wrong brush with lots of force and my gums have receeded and become sensitive and prone to cavities.
I brush with sensodyne to help with the sensitivity. If you have more extreme pain you might want to see a dentist to get your teeth checked out. You might need a root canal. Tooth pain never gets better. it only gets more painful and more infected. I had three absesses after recent dental work. It was by far the worst pain of my life.

Ottawa base.
For a while I had painful gums when I use an electric toothbrush.
It started maybe 3-4 months after I start using one and I didn't make the connection.
I switch back to a regular hand one and never had any problems.
That may be it if you use one

Dental hygiene... VERY IMPORTANT. Regular brushing, flossing and see your dental hygienist and dentist regularly.

Certainly helps to have a sexy hygienist too! (More incentive!!!)

My regular dentist said my gums look normal except for one tiny spot redder than normal. He sent me to a periodontist and he said my gums are normal. My dentist even took x-rays of my teeth roots and gum and all look good.

Try a table spoon or so of a 3% solution of Hydrogen peroxide- readily availbale at any local Pharmacy- after brushing and before flossing. Be careful not to swallow any of it. As I'm sure you know, hydrogen peroxide is a cleansing agent that will bubble and foam in your mouth and should help to loosen and free any uncleaned /food particles/ debris and plaque that can be missed by brushing alone, and it will help kill any infections in and around the gums as well. Hydrogen peroxide is tasteless. Check with your dentist. I hope that this suggestion is helpful. Sincerely, Jon .

I use the stimulator, floss, waterpic , brush with Crest Pro-Health and mouthwash. My dentist and periodontist tell me my gums are normal. Yet they hurt when poked?

A man goes to the Dentist and says "It hurts when I poke my gums".
The Dentist replys "Then don't poke them."

how long has it been hurting? It can take up to a month to clear infections. So keep up flossing and rinsing. If it hurts longer than 2 months, time to get an x-ray.

Maybe you have neuralgia or primary herpetic gingivostomatitis or burning mouth syndrome? What other symptoms do you have, is the pain localized or diffuse? Did you eat pussy on the side recently or do you have more than enough at home? Get a second opinion from another periodontist.
Anybody here suffers from painful gums? What is the solution?

First noticed it 6 years ago. At first the dentist thought it was a sinus infection. X-rays show teeth, roots and gum are normal. No infection. Maybe a bit of inflammation in one small area.

Pain is generally in the upper and lower rear left and right gums, front gums are fine. Pain is localized where I use the stimulator and diffuse when I use the waterpic.
