.
Keep an eye on your accts ladies some douchebag is trying to pull the fake etransfer scam.
1 of my regs just told me about it.
The fake e-transfer scam where the douchebag sends a Request Money? So that instead of getting paid the deposit, the lady sends funds to the douchebag?

If that is the scam, there is a way to disable Request Money from all senders; there is a link in the E-transfer notification....but it requires you to actually be sent the Request Money first before you can block it.

No he asked her if she had direct deposit and on her email it appeared that he had sent 900. But it was a fake statement. So it appeared 900 had been sent but it really wasnt deposited. Then he he cancelled and asked for 900 back. . Then when she phoned him that phone number had been diconnected

Only accepting e-transfers from people you know is a good safeguard.
But if some stranger is offering to e-transfer you money, it's easy to be fooled into thinking that there's no downside.
You can easily think that the e-transfer is a sure transfer of money.
I've even heard of scams where the e-transfer actually occurred, but the funds were withdrawn by the bank later because the sender's e-transfer was somehow fraudulent. I don't know the details, but e-transfer isn't as sure as they say.

Scam's just an updated version of an older scam. Used to be done with paper checks. Say you were selling an item on e-bay and a price of $300 has been agreed on. Instead, you get a check for $750 and a quick follow up call from the purchaser: "Oh, I was doing several purchases at the time and your's got crossed up, accounting error. Please send the $450 to me and everything will be square. And BTW, I would prefer gift cards to a check." Later the check bounces

Where there's a will, there's a way.
Although you can stop the password required option, I always, always password protect my transactions. If you make a mistake and sent the transfer to the wrong person, they won't know the password. Then you can cancel the transfer, or then it will expire after 30 days. I work too hard for my money to send into the bowels of the internet. Don't make it easy for the scammers.
