Ottawa Sex worker's meeting?

O

OnTheWayOut

Driving to work this morning I was listening to CFRA to figure out how long it was gonna take to get to work ....... after the traffic there was someone on talking about a meeting this weekend at "The Saw" (a club or resturant?) in Ottawa with someone from a sex worker's advocate group in either Montreal or Toronto being there. I think the general idea was to try to help get some support going in Ottawa for sex workers. It didn't dawn on me what they were talking about so I didn't get much info and what I have may not be 100%.

Whoever the guy was on a little after 8, the jerk was giving the woman a hard time saying all the girls should be arrested and crap. I really can't remember a lot of details ..... actually just found a link to this story in the Citizen, should be a bit more factual:

I hope this is useful to someone .......

I think this is concentrating on street walkers. Who aren't typically the "net surfin in the spare time" crowd.

I used to live in Hintonburg and was a bit of an insomniac. I used to love wandering the neighborhood at 3am. I wouldn't leave Wellington since it was well lit, but you could see and hear what was up in the alleys. Seeing streetwalkers hand over the money they just made to their pimp in exchange for a little baggie was quite commonplace.

I can understand the HCA wanting to get this crime out of their neighborhood, but their current tactic of treating the SWs as scum of the earth isn't very endearing.
