I shall be visiting our fair Capital the weekend of August 29, can't wait to see the Parliament buildings. If any of you know of a reasonable, discreet hotel I'd be happy to hear about it.

Most hotels have a 'weekend special' rate. What area of town would you prefer to be in?

In the past, I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Select in Kanata. It is near Hwy 417, exit 140, about 20 minutes west of downtown Ottawa. The hotel has nice rooms, and is located near the Corel Centre. The number there is (613) 271-3057.

Minto Suites usually has good weekend rates. It's a short walk to the Parliament Buildings (and a $12 cab ride to the Casino). There's a nice restaurant there called Noah's and they have a great fitness centre, pool.

The 1BR suites are terrific and only a few dollars more than the Studio.

For reasonable rates try Minto suites(as previously mentioned) also the Marriott usually has deals on weekends as does the Quality Hotel.
I like to stay at the Arc Hotel, but as a small boutique hotel and highere prices it may not be what you are looking for..
