In some sense, I wish they'd leave things alone. We already have it really good here in TO. If the court strikes it down and decriminalizes, that will only give the Conservative government a chance to introduce more draconian new laws that will make it more difficult for SPs and their clients.
I've been thinking all along, we should be careful what we wish for. If they relax the laws, pretty soon some nutbar will push it too far, and then, as you say, send for Draco. (He stipulated death or slavery for adultery and prostitution.)

And the whole case hinges on the somewhat anomalous situation in which almost all aspects of prostitution except the transaction itself are sanctioned by the Criminal Code. If the act was also criminal …

Not to give the Cons any ideas.

As I've mentioned before: Allowing Bordellos (incall) as is done in some Australian States could I think be done in such a way that there were not complaints from neighbors. But if street walking is legalized I think it will only be a matter of time before there are enough quality of life & disturbance of peace and quiet complaints that the Government would be forced to take action.

Agreed on the streetwalking.

Not sure about the incalls, tho.

There was some talk about legalizing marijuana. They would sell government issued ganja and collect taxes on it. Imagine if they collected taxes on gov. issued SPs and MPs?

You are not the only one.

This fight is more for street walkers and done by those who took it upon themselves to be the voice the industry when no one asked, elected or wanted these people to do this. This industry as whole has many different areas to it and from the many agencies and ladies I have spoken to - they would rather keep things the same at the risk of LE involvement and charges, then to change the game now.

I disagree. Yes, the industry self-regulates rather efficiently on the agency/indy level, but there is still room for improvement, and it's still operating in a shady area, due to the 3 provisions. If you have an activity that has been judged legal, yet everything around it is illegal, then you endanger the people in it, and are hypocritical. That is what must be changed.
