These stickers are so dumb. Why not just have an automated option to take your money every two years or until they cancel. I though the police can just scan your number anyways with their cameras automatically meaning it should pop up if you didn’t pay whatever you needed. Now they catch people who forget or gets lost in the mail to update after two years.

Don't wait for me to argue. I completely agree. I'm just laughing at the timing.

Depends on what cuts would take place to make up for the loss of sticker money.
Does this mean more road tolls?

exactly. People aren’t dumb anymore. Everyone I saw interviewed said the same thing. No one is celebrating this news because we all know something is going to come up.

You will still have to pay renewal fees.
The catch is that you will also have to get an inspection for road-worthiness, much like they do in the UK.

Where did you hear that?

I'm all for cancelling the plate sticker renewal. Last time I checked, the front and back of your car already has a unique plate with big numbers and letters on it. Cops also have cars equipped with automated licence plate recognition (ALPR) systems that checks them against the database of insured vehicles at the Motor Insurance Database (MID). It also tells them who the vehicle is registered to and if the plate sticker has expired.

Just seen on the news it's a loss of $1 Billion in revenue.
Everyone hates paying it, but I say keep it.
Why does this not surprise me...

I'm all for getting rid of front plates as well.

The idea is just “election candy” . The billion will be recouped by hidden taxes or just passed on to future governments and taxpayers but it is not as bad as what the Liberals under McGuinty and Wynne pulled. Ford needs to focus more on the siege in Ottawa instead, if he ignores it to further his election bid, then it might just cone back to bite his plush ass.

Good call. The working people of this province are under tremendous pressure. Every little bit helps.

I would rather see the Province and Feds do something to control inflation to help us save money. Dropping the stickers is going to create a $1 billion tax short fall, that we'll end up paying more for in the long run.

They drop one cost, they will just tax us on something else.

OK. Fire a few government workers, cut some costs, here and there, and Bob's your uncle. No matter how much.you give them, it's never enough. At least a bit more cash will help with the grocery bills. Power to the people!
