At 730am today, I received a call from a friend's ex-wife that he was in a ATV accident on the weekend, and he isn't going to survive. My friend is 41, and will be leaving a child behind.

My point is simply, be careful, wear a helmut, and don't drink and drive! Please just remind others of such tragic events when they believe they are invincible.

Hearing such tragic and sad news from anyone makes my heart bleed, i hope and pray to Lord Almighty to do some miracle and save him from death for the sake of his wife and his child, God Bless the family and the victim, and happiness soon returns back to this unfortunate family Ameen.

These warnings are because your friend was not wearing a helmet and drove drunk? If so, then this tragic waste certainly serves as a cautionary warning. Sorrows to his family.

I created the thread not only because my friend wasn't wearing a helmut and drove drunk, but we all know someone or know of someone that will put themselves in harms way for a thrill.

In fact, when his ex wife called me. My first comment was that idiot, how many times have we said this. I just blurted that out, and she agreed.

It's just a tragic event that could have been avoided or possibly not as grave. :(

You are entirely right HOF, still I am sorry for your friend's family and for those of you who are his friends.

This is the time to ask the question.

Why?

Not why did it happen!........No!

Why do people put themselves in harms way for so much pain when there is so little gain.

Hmm... That hits seriously close to home, my daughter and I go ATVing and Snowmobiling all the time. Of course I'm never drunk, and a helmet is always in use. My regards.

At the moment of our birth or time and date of death is engraved in stone. Circumstances provide the means.

I'm new to this board, but not the boards or hobby. I apologize if I rained on anyone's day with my friend's demise, but it's so tragic and our summer has been filled with tragic events that I just wanted a moment to remind folks about safety.

You do us a service by reminding all that life is a temporary privilege and should be embraced as it can be gone in a split second.

My friend expired this week as a result of his injuries. Now, the in-fighting is happening over his will, house, finances. My thought is that everything goes to his child in-trust for post secondary and life, but one of his siblings is fighting that, greedy. The other is fighting for his brother's child interests.

During times like these, money does crummy things to people.

...certainly not my beliefs...and a pretty sad commentary IMHO on your outlook, and the value of life

Condolences HOF, to your friend and all those that know him.As foolish as we all feel his actions were, I think there would be but a scant few of us that haven't at one time or another done something very foolish to put us in harms way. To judge him at this point is rather harsh, he's likely going to pay the ultimate price....

Condolences to you and your friend's family.

And thank you for reminding us to appreciate the life we have. I'll be meeting some friends for a drink after work tonight and will take extra care.

sorry to the family they lost him. My family meaning my siblings were just as greedy when my mother past away in 2005 from lung cancer. I disowned my own brother for telling our mother before she died to hurry up and die already so he can get what he wants.

Give the first sibling the atv and a helmet with no stap!
