My laptop died. I have the hard drive & it uses Vista. Any way to connect to my new laptop, with Windows 7 and copy files I want? I would then want to erase everything on old HD and sell it. Any recommendations? Thank you.

Easy way - take it to Tiger Direct (or Best Buy / Future Shop), pay $30, they will recover all files and give to you on your own flash drive.

DIY - read the instructions here

Good luck.

Buy a Usb HD enclosure from Canada Computers ($15), either Sata or IDE and use your old hard drive as a backup drive

IMO this is the best option. It will turn your old HDD into an external HDD.

For a laptop, the enclosure is probably no more than $5 if you look for a sale. Laptop HD's are tiny.
Tiger direct charged me $20, Canada Computers $15.
