Except for tourist designated sites, ie: Eaton's Centre, I believe just about everything is closed. You might find a local garage that is still open but I doubt any of the chains will be open. The unions tend to take a dark view of any stores or chains that open on labour day so most companies give it a pass.

I agree! THROW THOSE UNION COMMUNISTS IN JAIL!

I mean we know where they will be tomorrow... marching in a parade and will be easy pickings!

Do it yourself...get a set of car ramps and--wait, maybe just enjoy your beers....we need no accidents here...

but its really not that hard, that little filter can be a bitch coming off thou...expect thats about it, pull the drain plug and change the filter--and fill the filter up with oil most the way before installing so the motor does run dry for 20 seconds--something the fast change places don't do. Its not their car, lol.

I have never heard of a mechanic filling the filter with oil before installing it and I've changed numerous filters on my engines. Some filters are installed horizontally while others are vertical and in some engines upside down.
Agreed!
They put that BS in some books to discourage you from doing it yourself.
I've been changing my own oil since the 60s and have never done that and never had any engine problems. The times some shop changed oil and filter for my vehicles, they have never done that either.

Last time I tried to fix my lawnmower I took the engine apart, then when I tried to put the engine back together I was left with a dozen parts which I had no idea where they're supposed to go.

Oddly enough the mower worked fine, and I still have those parts in a box somewhere
