Okay let me just point out the Cartagena is in the North part of the country
caribbean which has many tourist also people who visit San Andres Island.
It is very rich there also. It's not a Big city like Cali or Bogota.
I was there 3 summers ago I found the beach resorts very beautiful & peacefull everyone I met was fun to party with.
I also went to Brazil in Rio- Now over there the party's never end!

Stay in the tourist areas and you`ll be allright, avoid and say no to all vendors (be firm with them), if you do buy from them make sure you haggle for price.
Avoid going to the countryside, kidnappings are all the rage and there`s a good chance you`ll be killed. Remember this country is engaged in a narco-civil war right now.
If you`re young and good-looking you`ll have no problems picking up girls left, right and centre.
In fact they will pick you up!!
Learn some Spanish and you`ll improve your chances.
Colomian women are some of the most beautiful in the world, rivalled only by Venezuelans in my opinion.

Last time I was there, I stayed in one of Juan Ventura's finest apartments (Marinare #1204), a 5 minute walk to LDV... I have some great memories from this place.. there was a hot bartender there that I was fucking. BTW.. the hotdogs at the stand near Casablanca are not too bad!
I have been virtually everywhere in Cartagena, at all hours of the night & feel safer there than in many parts of toronto or hamilton... I have only really been robbed out of stupidity twice. Once was a girl in my room (stole a gold chain off me.. I was too drunk!) and the other time by the police.. they wanted a $20k bribe because I did not have my passport with me
I have been outside the city many times and never felt insecure. When traveling out of the city, I usually bring a local friend. The talk about the "war" is greatly exaggerated. It is much, much safer in Colombia under the current presidency than was lets say 10 years ago.. If have been to a couple of small villages to party... that was great experience everytime.. all the chicas wanted the (my) muy grande gringo cock!!!
Paisas are hot... but Cali is short for "caliente"!!! Those chicas from Cali sure like to fuck!!

Actually.. much has changed. It is not the same as it was 4 years ago.. much of the "ambience" is gone. There has been a lot of Chinese & European money going into Cartagena over the last couple years. It is a shame... if you think rush hour in toronto is bad... try sitting in rush hour, trying to get out of Bocogrande (one road!).. Also La Boquilla will disappear within the next 5-10 years, turned into hotels and condos.
