Obama regains lost ground in Dem race

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama regained lost ground in the fierce competition for Democratic convention delegates on Wednesday based on results from the Texas caucuses, partially negating the impact of Hillary Rodham Clinton's string of comeback primary victories.

Late returns showed Clinton emerged from Rhode Island, Vermont, Texas and Ohio with a gain of 12 delegates on her rival for the night, with another dozen yet to be awarded in The Associated Press count.

That left Obama with an overall lead of 101 delegates, 1,562-1,461 as the rivals look ahead to the final dozen contests on the calendar. It takes 2,025 to win the nomination.

The two presidential contenders made the rounds of the morning television news shows, agreeing on little — except that their historic struggle would continue at least until the Pennsylvania primary on April 22.

On a night that failed to clarify the Democratic race, John McCain clinched the Republican nomination Tuesday. Clinton won primaries in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, halting Obama's winning streak. Obama won in Vermont.

Neither one of them will win the nod in delegates. This one is going to come down to the super delegates and that places hillery on the ballot with the promise to Obama that he will get the nod in 8 or 12 years. They will tel him he just needs more experience.

BTW don't let her wins surprise you. The republicans want her in the race to dig up dirt on Obama. Would be interesting to know how many "independents" voted for her.

Ahmadinejad: I never endorsed Obama
Wed, 05 Mar 2008 20:14:13
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has dismissed claims that he supported US presidential candidate Barack Obama in a recent interview.

“I have never voiced support for Barack Obama. I merely said they would not allow him to become the US President,” Ahmadinejad said after a Wednesday cabinet meeting.

“We believe they will find a way of keeping him out of the White House, even if the entire American nation votes for him,” he added.

The Iranian President went on to say all US talks of unity are empty words and Washington is plagued with internal conflicts.

Ahmadinejad was referring to his Sunday interview with the Spanish El Pais newspaper, in which he said he would have no problem meeting with Barack Obama if the US presidential candidate was elected, but he did not believe it was possible for Obama to win.

"It makes no difference to us who wins (the US election)," he said.

Well duh. All she was trying to do was derail his runaway train. Her only real hope is the convention.

What she regained was momentum, more than delegates. She boosted her chances from 10-15% to 25-30%. Obama is still the clear front runner, but the race is actually on.

If she makes a solid showing in the remaining states she could eat up enough of his lead that the super delegates would not look so bad if they appointed her.

She's still a long shot, but she's certainly closed the gap.

This is great for McCain who will find it easy to throw rocks at the Democrats while they are busy throwing rocks at one another.

My dream is to see her run with Obama as VP. Then after 8 years of Hillary we can have 8 years of Obama. By that time I will be old and could die happy after 16 years of Liberal Dems in the White House!

After 16 years we would all be dead, just not happy.

But I counter that with this massive "Obama 12 state surge", he only surpassed Clinton by 100 delegates. Not so much of a victory for him when he wins these "numerous states", when in fact they are small, non-democractic, hostage caucuses, gaining very few delegates. Now with Clinton holding Michigan and ***BIG FLORIDA*** where she crushed Obama, they are going to hold those delegates aside? I think not. In fact, she's going to win delegate rich Pennsylvania as well.

Just when you think the math is not in her corner, a-ha, Obama loses the nomination by math. In fact, don't be surprised when you see Obama's "pledged" super-delegates jump off his wagon while his momentum ends. RESKO, NAFTA lies, a wife who hates America, no answers, no strategy, no experience, no chance against McCain. Hillary at 3am. Politics are evil.

The math does not favour either one. Even if one side wins 60-40 all the remaining states, neither one will clinch the nomination because the vote totals excluding super-delegates will not be enough. What will they do with Michigan and Florida delegates? With a do-over, they'll just go back to Clinton, given their demographics (Michigan = Ohio, Florida = Texas). It all comes down to super-delegates where Clinton has the lead.

You guys aren't talking about math. You're talking about probabilities. Naturally, math doesn't "favour" anything.

All this political spinning is just that.

Valid points all, my comment was in reference to the dreadful concept of double back to backs with Billery and Hussein osama.

I'm not making light of any fiscal hardships the people in the Ohio area have endured of late so with all due respect I will not shove it. While I am no Stephen Hawking I am far from stupid and will continue to voice my at times contrary opinions as is my right.

Probability = The integration between 0 (0%) and 1 (100%). Hillary has been there: 100%. Obama has been there: 0%.

She has identified a key Obama weakness, he is not willing to go down and dirty so with Bill's help, she will eventually get the nomination.
