A concert called "We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert" was scheduled for this past Saturday. It was a major event. Dozens of acts committed to performing. The purpose of the concert was to try to persuade people of the continuing vitality of NYC as place to live and visit, given the massive exodus of New Yorkers due to Covid restrictions and the continuing reluctance of people to visit there, given continuing restrictions. It was intended also as a "thank you" to front line health workers. However, the organizers, which included the Mayor's office, wanted the concert to serve other purposes. They wanted to tell those who decline to be vaccinated that they wouldn't be able to enjoy such great events. So, despite the fact that almost all of the performers committed to the concert had already resumed perfoming indoors, in order to be consistent with their woke message, the organizers scheduled the event outdoors and limited attendance by requiring social distancing at the event.

What happened? Naturally, the cosmos had it's say, and rained out the event after about one hour of a scheduled 6hr+ event. The patrons were cleared out of the event. The performances were all stopped. CNN, as the event broadcaster, had to plug hours of dead air. They weren't even able to organize any continuation of the concert for broadcast only.

Instead of being a big advertisement enticing people back to NYC, and a compelling message to the unvaccinated to play ball, it was a massive failure, and further testimony to the maxim "get woke, go broke!".

How is the show being cancelled due to a hurricane an issue of woke-ness? This makes no sense. Are you saying it rained because only vaccinated people were allow to attend???

No, to be fair to OP, their argument is that if people weren't "woke" (as he defines it) then they wouldn't have agreed they had to do an outdoor concert - the whole thing would be indoors and it still would have gone on because it didn't have to be canceled because of rain.

Cuomo and Don Lemon were talking about it (at the behest of Cuomo) during their handoff on Friday night. Cuomo described it as "a Eureka moment" for him. I tried to find the clip on YouTube for you, but apparently CNN did not deem it worthy of promotion.

Hand offs are almost never put up by the networks for promotion. (I can't remember the last time I've seen one.) People sometimes put them up themselves because of the chatter, but the networks themselves seem to mostly ignore the handoffs.

They could have put on a 6 hour show of transsexuals chanting trans women are women [no they arn't] or 6 hours of rednecks jerking it to video of Trump and the rain still would have happened.
