Not sure how well this will go over...

One of the mandates that Dalton McGuinty will have if/when he is elected will be to take the responsibility of no-smoking by-laws from municipalities and make it a provincial issue. In that regards, he has promised that in 3 years, he will ban smoking in ALL public and private work places.

Not sure how that well that will sit with voters, but ofcourse it's not one of the issues that is in the limelight so I'm sure not too many people know about it. Sure will be a big surprise.

Forgive me because I'm not totally informed -

Don't most major municipalities already have non-smoking bilaws already in place? If so, then really what difference would a province-wide ban really make other than for smaller and rural communities?

As a gal who's quit but been lured back a few times, I would welcome a province-wide ban - Anything to help me stay away from that sweet feeling of inhaling.....ahhh I wish smoking was healthy :D (...and didn't stink so much)

smoking by-laws

A lot of municipalities do have by-laws not allowing people to smoke in the work place. But, there are others that don't. And, some places can get around this issue. But, this will be a province wide act, and, it will pertain to ALL workplaces. Private and public. This includes stirp clubs, bars, mp's. Even if an SC changes their format and becomes a "private" club, they would still be under the no-smoking law.

I wonder if this means there will be a smoking shelter outside every strip club? *lol*

How about outside mp's as well.
