got my new computer. i was excited to crack it open and play with it and get it all set to how i like it. 10 mins and i was frustrated and annoyed at how difficult they made it to work with. i am having to download 3rd party programs to change certain things. the app home page is a pain in the ass and adds nothing to the operating system except clutter. hard to navigate and just all around not a good or even average OS. i was hoping to find a computer left with win7 but i may be forced to take this one into some nerd and get win7 put on it and get rid of 8 altogether.

hell even turning the computer off is a pain. have to log out, then click the screen, then click the power symbol, then click off. wtf.

W8 isn't really that bad.
Just click on whatever the 'desktop' icon is and you get a look somewhat similar to W7, then go from there.....;)

The satisfaction of a "deal" or lower price wears off almost immediately.

Four years ago I threw out my Windows machines for the very same reasons you are complaining about with Windows 8.

I bought a MacBook Pro and have not had ANY problems nor frustrations with it at all. None. Not in four years. I just bought a new battery because it wouldn't hold a charge for more than an hour, but it had 900 cycles on it. $60.

Not a "fanboi" but so happy because it just works.

I also re-purposed a desktop PC with Linux Mint and it is way easier and more reliable to use than and Micosoft product I've ever used.

i know it is there and it is easy to find. i just don't like the lay out, wtf do i need apps for. use the apps for the tablet, get rid of that shit for the pc version. it's clunky and i don't like it.

i am not paying 3-5 times more for the same computer. once i get it figured out i am sure it will be fine, i just don't like change and win7 was close enough to xp i didn't have an issue. 8 is just new and odd. like trying to combine the 2 hard drives (c and d) i had to download a 3rd party program to make it work. xp i could do that shit all day easy enough. it's like they are trying to make it so you can't customize your shit the way you like it.

It is a bit different. All the same functions are still there, they have just moved them around a bit (kind of like the moving from Office 2003 to Office 2007/2010 with the introduction of the ribbon bar). Near as I can tell, what they did with Win8 was take everything that you used to access by pointing at the Windows icon and put it on the Win8 Start screen.

About the fastest way I have found to switch between the desktop (like Win7) and the Win8 start screen is to point at the lower left hand corner of the screen (where the Windows logo used to be). Pointing at the upper left corner allows you to toggle between (or close) "apps" running in the background. Pointing at the lower right corner, then at the "gear" icon brings up the power icon (to shut down).

It does take a bit of getting used to.

Learning curve is a bit steep but once you've gotten used to it, it's fine. Took me about a month. If you really miss the start button download Start8.

Many peeps feel your pain and don't like change.....heck some still use W98 and 2000.

However 'change' is the only constant in the PC OS world, you just have to deal with it.
Right now they are working on W9 and planning on W10.....:eyebrows:

Moving to Linux was the BEST move I ever made!
Mint is the most popular Linux flavor going right now and all FREE and super stable.

Been using various Linux versions since 2007, all self taught, and at this point in time can do EVERYTHING needed and MORE with it and don't need M$ anymore!....

It's nice being free of M$ and even pricier Apple!.....:thumb:
