When I was in grade 4 our teacher hung paper shopping bag with each of our name on them. We made our own Valentine cards and put them in the bag of our favourite person. Needless to say, my bag had the most cards. Even got one from cute little Susie (yes, I used to lift up her skirt).

Our children and grandchildren and all future generations will never know the Valentine that we knew.

How many cards did you have to make to be named the most favourite person. I’m guessing you are a Republican :ROFLMAO:

How would you feel if you were one of the few kids or only kids in the class the didn't get a candy cane or Valentine card? It destroys a kids self esteem.

I remember many yrs ago, when the school sold candy canes and had the kids buy 1 for other kids in the class. My daughter bought 15 or so for all the kids in her class, she got 1 back. Some of her "friends" she boight for didn't buy for her but bought for their other friends.
She cried all the way home. I called the teacher and asked what were they trying to teach the kids. Explained how it destroyed her self confidence and self esteem. She thought there was something wrong with her. The follow year the teacher bought candy canes for everyone but that the kids still did the same thing. So now she got 2..

So instead of thinking about saving a fcuking useless day think about the mental health of the kids.. dumbasses

When I was in high school we had a roses and prunes day to raise money for charity. You could order roses for someone you like or prunes for someone you didn't like. A few guys got together to order a whole bowl of prunes for a girl they(and others) didn't like. When it was delivered to her in her class she left the room in tears.

I'm sure your daughter got over it and is doing fine.

I remember at the school dances, the boys would pick their female dance partners from the girls sitting at the back of the room. Some girls got lots of dances and others not so much.

Life is hard. Got to learn to accept rejection.

Kids are pretty resilient. Parents don't give them enough credit. Need to stop treating them with kid gloves, no pun intended.

Yes, I remember when the captains were picking the baseball teams (pickup baseball). I was not always the first "draft" choice.

It's a completely different thing between being picked last in a school gym class, and being picked last in a pick up game in the neighbourhood.

I got picked last often in pick up games, not because I was a terrible player, but because the other guys who were invited to play were usually better than I was. I also got the call ahead of other guys who might have been better players because I showed up if I said I would.

The kids who sucked at sports never got the phone call to let them know that there was a game.

The main purpose of Valentine's Day in early elementary school used to be about learning manual dexterity with a pair of scissors. Smart kids folded the red paper in half, and at minimum, the hearts they made were symmetrical.

The slow kids made hearts that looked like pieces of raw liver, and they spelled 'valentine' with an M.

Now we know how Shane Wright must feel not being picked first or even second or third.

"After entering the draft as the No. 1 projected pick, Shane Wright fell to the Seattle Kraken at fourth overall."

Christmas and Valentine's Day are both fake holidays, the only difference is that St Nicholas actually existed. How a military General who chose to become a Christian martyr became Santa Claus is beyond me.

Valentine's Day should be called Chaucer Day. After The Black Death wiped out 40% of England's population, King Edward III was short of manpower for his war with France. So he commissioned Geoffrey Chaucer to write bawdy poems to get the people fucking again. The Royal Order to Chaucer came on Feb 14 1367.
